Two Hands Are Better Than One

Assalamualaikum..Dah lama tak 'mengepos'... Many stories to share, tapi aura malas nak menaip. Now aura rajin datang, don't let it go.eheh..

Kita selalu dengar pepatah ni, two hands are better than one...or versi famous nya two head are better than one. ehe..Kesimpulannya kedua-duanya nak menampaikan mesej yang sama..Jadi saya nak share..

------------

Di wad orang-orang tua..

Sesiapa pun tahu agak mencabar nak mengingat health record atau case history of elderly people yang ada macam-macam sejarah penyakit yang begitu complicated dan sedang menjalani rehabilitasi untuk kehidupan yang lebih baik...

Teringat pengalaman di wad tu...

--------------------------

Working hours came to an end---to say,it was time to go home. eh, who said? As long as I didn't finish my job that day, how can I go back? Usually I would spend 1-2-3 hours extra to finish my unsettled job. I'm quite slow, bear with me, lolzz

So, after the office hour( 5pm) that day, I went into a room to finish some work that need computer to be done! This is a tedious job, and I hate doing that. Even though I would do my best in finishing it. And that would take 1-2 hours....

In that ward, I got two branula to set up to 2 patients, which I have tried few times and couldn't get it right. So I just reminded the nurses to call the houseman from other ward to settle or help. That ward got no doctors taking care at night. Any issues after office hour was the responsibility of on-call doctor from another ward...Interesting, but working at that ward I got no weekend off. 7 days per week...

While I'm continuing the 'typing' job, the houseman on call came to help to set up the branula...
After some time, I thought everything was settled. But he went into the room and called me, "I couldn't set it," and asking me to help him. He was more senior than me in that posting, so I was like, if he can't set the branula, how can I...

I just smile and followed him to the patient. He said he has tried 3-5 times..wow..I just tried 1-2 and give up, heh..It's painful and I dare not to poke so many times, when I know it was futile..ehh.. So he said, "let's find it together"...He looked for the vein and found one near the thumb. What choice do we have?Just poke it..

But he asked me to set the branula while he hold the uncle's hand. That uncle was delerious ..we wanted to prevent him from unnecessary movement, heh..

Just first attempt by me-successful!! wow... He and me has spent almost an hour independently to get the vein. But when we worked together, it became easier, so fast...

Now another patient. This uncle, I have seen him previously, I know it's difficult to insert branula for him, and plus, he was quite irritable..especially if people failed to set the branula correctly...

So we look together and we found vein at the elbow. My colleague did this time while me holding the uncle..One attempt-successful....

I was like, how come it becomes this easy to insert the branula??when I have wasted hours for single of them...

-------------------------------

The lesson I really learnt from this story was....Many times, work are better to be done together. And many times it is so helpful and successful...So, let's help each other!! heh
